An academic resource for professional learning and publishing
Pedagogy refers to the theory and practice of education, particularly in the context of teaching and learning. Language pedagogy is the field of study and practice that focuses on the theory and methodology of teaching and learning languages. It encompasses a wide range of techniques, strategies, and approaches designed to facilitate language acquisition and proficiency. Language pedagogy addresses the complexities of how languages are learned, the development of language skills, and the cultural and communicative aspects of languages. It plays a crucial role in the education of both first and additional languages. It aims to create effective and engaging learning experiences for learners of all ages and proficiency levels. Effective language pedagogy involves a deep understanding of linguistic principles, teaching strategies, and the needs and goals of the learners.
Language Pedagogy is devoted to the art of teaching languages in the 21st century. We promote and help publish research and practitioners’ accounts of their work to advance student language acquisition. We promote human-friendly — not just student-centered — ways to learn and teach languages by showcasing impactful practices of language teaching and learning. Language Pedagogy also functions as a professional development resource for language pre- and in-service instructors in K-12 and tertiary settings.
